Overture Keyword Matching Options: Negative Keyword
Posted: September 30, 2004
If you use phrase or broad matching options, you should make some use of the Overture PPC negative matching options.
A negative keyword is a keyword that if included in the search, will cause your ad to not be displayed.
An example would be for the phrased match, ‘bidding software’. If you included the negative keyword ‘free’, then your ad would not be shown for a search for ‘free bidding software’, however, it would be shown for ‘pay per click bidding software’.
This is an excellent way to filter your ads exposure so it is only shown for relevant searches.
Unlike Google AdWords,Overture does have a maximum amount of negative keywords you can have for any single keyword. Choose your negative keywords wisely.
