Always Make Multiple AdWords Ads
Posted: January 17, 2004
Google AdWords gives you the ability to make many ads for each keyword group. Take advantage of this opportunity to try different ads. You will be amazed at the difference a few words can make in targeting your users.
Broad Keywords
For broad keywords, we suggest starting with 5-6 different ads. We would also suggest trying at least three different landing pages to see how your website converts visitors based on landing pages.
These keywords get a lot of impressions and searches, and your ads and landing pages will quickly rack up enough user data to make very informed decisions.
Direct Keywords
For direct keywords, we suggest 4-6 ads per keyword group, and at least two different lading pages. These keywords are directly related to a product. Since they are so targeted, we would suggest only trying a couple landing pages that are also directly related to the product page in question. Often the actual product page, and then a FAQ page about the product are the best two landing pages for this type of keyword.
Niche Keywords
For niche keywords, we suggest 2-3 ads, and 1-2 landing pages. These keywords take a long time to get a statistically significant number of impressions, and two many landing pages and ads can slow down the data collecting process so much that you never get a proper understanding of the keywords targeting and conversion ability.
